Kimberly Martin
I am blessed to be the Worship Music Director for our Waypoint fellowship. I serve our church family by building and encouraging our incredible worship team and congregation to sing and make music from our hearts to the Lord. I have the delight of working with an amazing team of pastors and staff to build our Sunday services
together.
The way I walk in our mission statement for this role is first by prayerfully seeking Jesus Christ’s guidance through God’s Word and Holy Spirit. I’m passionate about implementing the talent of our congregation and look to find people who want to use their gifts for God. And I seek to create space, through congregational worship music
and service elements, to allow His Holy Spirit to shape the posture of our hearts as we respond to His Word and His mission.
God has called me to facilitate opportunities for us to worship Him authentically and wholeheartedly. I pray for God’s Spirit to continue His transformative work in all of us to become more like Him and love others like He does.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12: 1-2
I grew up in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. After High School, I went to Central Christian College of Kansas and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Liberal Studies with foci on Music and Drama. I enjoyed many music ventures there including serving on a music ministry team for four years.
I met my husband, Brian, in college. After graduation we married and moved to Waterford, Michigan. Together, we began attending Waypoint Church in 2007, when it was called Clarkston Free Methodist Church. At that time, I began volunteering on the Worship Team. Later, I served additionally in children’s ministry. And encouraged worship music in our youth group by having Worship Jam Sessions and forming a Praise Band.
My husband and I have two children, Joseph and Eva. If I’m not practicing music, you may find me enjoying time with family and friends, playing games with my kids, reading, or writing songs.
