Danette Meny

Pastor of Strategic Planning and Worship

When I was a baby, my family began attending Waypoint. Our family remained actively involved in the church throughout my childhood and teenage years. When my husband and I began our own family after college, we moved back to Clarkston to raise our children here in this community and in the Waypoint Church family.

I am the Pastor of Strategic Planning and Worship Ministries which means I have the honor of leading our incredible worship team, and planning and shaping our Sunday morning services as well as the trajectory of our teaching series.

I am blessed to have several opportunities to mentor others in their faith and in leadership. My goal is always to use the gifts God has given me to help Waypoint be as effective as possible as we fulfill the mission the Lord has given us.

In Matthew Jesus tells his disciples that they are both salt and light.

“You must be sure that your light shines well. Then you will give light to other people. They will see all the good things that you do. Then they will praise God, who is your father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

I do my best to be a light as I connect with people outside the walls of the church as often as possible. As I follow God’s leading in my life, my hope is to be a light that will illuminate the path for people to find their way to the God who made them and loves them.

I am often reminded of my own limitations, so I lean heavily on this powerful truth;

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me…For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But I also rely on the beautiful simplicity of this prayer;

“Let the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” – Psalm 19:14

I’m a Clarkston girl. I was born and raised here and then after college, my husband and I moved back to Clarkston to raise our family here. After graduating from Clarkston High School, I received a BS in Environmental Geosciences from Lyman Briggs School at Michigan State University.

Over a period of 15 years, God repeatedly called me to seek ordination, so I went through a 4-year program offered through the Free Methodist Church and became officially ordained in 2022. In 2023, I received a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University.

My husband, Chris, and I got married in 1997 and have 3 wonderful children, 2 amazing daughters-in-law, and 1 perfect granddaughter. I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and taking walks in our beautiful local parks.
