Great Falls, Montana, a city of about 65,000 people, is located on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains in the North Central part of the state on the Missouri River. Interstate 15 runs through town. We are about half way between Glacier National Park and Yellowstone Natiional Park.
Probably the biggest claim to fame for Great Falls is the Charles M. Russell Gallery and Museum. The late C.M. Russell is a famous western artist. Each spring we have the C.M. Russell Art Auction which attracts people from all over the world.
Another Great Falls attraction is the Lewis and Clark Interpertive Center. We are preparing for the Lewis and Clark bi-centennial in 2005/6. Great crowds are expected. A couple of weather records were set near Great Falls. About 75 miles west of town, on Rogers Pass, a temperature of -70 degrees F was recorded. The lowest in the continental U.S. Also, nearby a record temperature change of 100 degrees in a 24 hour period was experienced. If you don't like the weather here, stick around a few minutes and it will change! Montana is the 4th largest state and has one of the lowest population densities.There are a lot of things to do and see here.
