Pérouges, France
Pérouges, one of the prettiest villages in France, was founded by Italians from Perugia in pre-Roman times, hence its name. It was heavily damaged when attacked by the Dauphinois in 1468. It was partly rebuilt at the time, which accounts for much of its good condition now. It still has its narrow cobbled streets and medieval houses, and the lovely Place de la Halle.
