Wilson Observatory PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING. There is almost no parking on top of Mt. Wilson when Skyline Park is closed. There is always danger of falling rocks, and during the winter black ice on the winding road up to Mt. Wilson.

San Pedro Hill Air Force Radar Station (defunct) - Antenna Farm
Miraleste (Palos Verdes peninsula) - Once part of the United States' defense radar network, this site was decommissioned many years ago. On Clear days that you can see the Palos Verdes peninsula, you can see the observatory-looking building on the East-end of the PV summit. Taking Crest Road will take you to a electric gate, and thats about as close as you can get to the radomes and antenna farm. I've gotten mixed opinions regarding if the radar is still active or not. At this 1300 ft elevation you can see the Eastern portion of the Los Angeles Basin. GPS taken at pull off area outside of gate.

Centinela Springs - Californina State Historic Landmark # 363
City of Inglewood (Edward Vincent Park) - This was once an artesian well that once attacted prehistoric animals, Indians, and settlers. This monument and historical maker can be found South of the public pool. Note the Newport-Inglewood earthquake fault runs through this park and my GPS receiver was acting very erratic (as though I was in motion) while getting his waypoint.

Movie Scene Location - Dragnet
City of Inglewood (Inglewood Park Cemetery) - I was watching Dragnet (Movie - staring Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks; 1987 ) when I recognized the location in the cemetery scene. SCIGN Antenna - El Camino College
City of Torrance (El Camino College Campus) - Southern California Integrated GPS Network (SCIGN) is an array of Global Positioning System (GPS) stations distributed throughout Southern California. This monitoring station is strategically located between the Palos Verdes and Newport-Inglewood faults, and measures crust deformation/movements before and after an earthquake. Data is constantly being collected and transmitted by cable to a recorder inside the planetarium (about 25 yards to the South), from there the information is transmitted to Scripps Institute in LaJolla and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena for processing. El Camino's Planetarium is located on the NE part of campus off of Manhattan Beach Blvd. GPS taken next to antenna.

Little Manila, Stockton, CA
Historic neighborhood in Stockton, CA where at one time the largest Filipino community in California. Most residents were farm laborers. Most of the original buildings are now gone due to city redevelopment projects that began in the 1960s. Only two remaing buildings stand. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Little Manila one of America's 11 most endangered historic places.
